How To Find Roommates In My City?

Are you moving to a new place? Or Are you moving into a new area for a fresh start? Finding a new roommate, especially someone that you have not met before, maybe a daunting task. We are offering some tips to follow to ensure that you find that you find that perfect roommate fit.

It's 2019 Use An APP!

If you are new to the roommate game or you have been out of it for a while, you may find yourself stressing out over ways to find someone to fill the spot you have left. It would be best if you always started by joining a Facebook group for roommates in the area you will be living in. To do this, it is as simple as typing in some keywords. For example, if you are looking for a roommate in North Bergen NJ, type in "Roommates in North Bergen NJ" in the search bar, and it should redirect you to a roommate search page. However, Facebook can be a little vague in terms of preferences; if you want to get more in-depth, you can use Roomster or Roomie! These sites are designed to help you find a roommate that matches your personality and preference. Just give these a click, and you are good to go!

Word Of Mouth

Word Of Mouth is not dead! You never know who may have a cousin, friend, or coworker in the area that may need a place to live or a roommate. There is a good chance that you can find someone who is looking, especially if you are between the ages of 20-30! This is definitely the more traditional way to find a roommate, and maybe the fastest way if you are in a time crunch, you may need to rely on other methods.

What If Time Is A Factor

If time is a factor and you have extra money after your move-in cost, it is okay to give yourself an extra month if you can cover the rent. If you can't cover the rent, a smart thing to do is to look to fill someone's spot as a roommate instead of holding an entire apartment down to yourself.
